Hardin County’s own.. Zombie Elementary!
by Forrest Charles
It sometimes amazes me how quickly word spreads, especially when it’s bad news. In my travels throughout our area parents and residents showing a great deal of concern over the busing of rural students into Savannah are stopping me. The horror stories are already coming in about the students from the northwest sector of Hardin County and their daily bus trips into the schools located in the county seat.
One mother of a middle school student in the Saltillo community stated, “I wish it was only sex magazines. The kids are smoking dope on the bus my son rides. He tells me about it almost every day.” Isn’t that refreshing? Soon the children of the parents of the communities of Walnut Grove Elementary, Walker Elementary, Nixon Elementary and Whites Elementary will have their kids riding the bus, walking through the door at home after school smelling like they had just attended a Pink Floyd concert. Just another day in the Hardin County School District.

Someone is responsible... someone HAS to be responsible, someone has to be accountable for this type of action. You know who? I’ll tell you who, the head of the school board and all the school board members. But we all know that when the words “responsible” and “accountable” are mentioned the silence from these very people is deafening. You mention these two words to the school board and these people look to hide under their desk or in the nearest closet, What a great example they are for our children to learn from, run from your responsibility at all costs.
While attending a meeting of the Walnut Grove supporters one resident related how their child has already stated that going to a mega-sized elementary will take any personal attention that teachers may give to individual students that they are receiving at this point in time in the much smaller local school.
I think we have finally found the REAL reason behind the mega-school project. The members of the Hardin County School Board want to strip area children of any and all forms of individuality, turning them all into mindless zombies that will do whatever they are told, whenever they are told and never think for themselves.
If someone, who fantasizes that they are authority figures, tells you to do something, you do it without question. Never, ever are you to question anything or think for yourself, because free thinking people are the most dangerous people there are. - ,to those in charge anyway. Nothing scares those at the top of the food chain as much as someone at the bottom of the food chain that questions everything. Believe me, I know this from personal experience.
What a great name for Hardin County’s newest school, “Zombie Elementary-Where average or below is good enough.” The school mascot could be a witch doctor or even a shrunken head. I may get into the spirit and make my own voodoo dolls, one of the head of the school board and one of the county mayor for wanting to raise my property tax. So go ahead, name the building after a dead politician or war hero it doesn’t matter. Zombie Elementary will soon be here. I hope a photo of the current school board and county commission that are in favor of this project is placed in the hallway so that when students come of age and cannot find jobs or function in society they will possibly remember who to thank for their “education”.
