Despite the fact that this is a football movie being released in the beginning of baseball season, it shows great acting and a story that I enjoyed to the final buzzer. I was sitting pretty close to the front in a well filled theater. I always enjoy Savannah's Southgate Cinema Complex. It's a great place to watch a movie. This was no exception.

This is a real wild comedy that kept you chuckling. George Clooney and Renee' Zellweger light up the screen. This is one of those old fashioned films that may make younger viewers sit and wonder what's going on. Leatherheads is carefully done and worked for me.

The movie is set back in 1925, really football then, was a novelty. It's hard to even imagine that. Dodge Connelly (Clooney), has this brainstorm so he gets together with a sports promotion guy named C.C. Frazier(Jonathon Pryce) with his idea. He recruits this university player who's also a war hero to play for his Duluth Bulldogs. This guy is Carter Rutherford and he is portrayed by actor John Krasinski. The deal is made and football is now making the front page of newspapers everywhere. Carter shows up with this news reporter, Lexie Littleton(Renee Zellweger), who is getting to the real truth behind his WW1 adventures. She and Dodge get into odds with each other but both feel there is romance in the wind.

The story touches on money in sports, and the fact that when heroes don't exist, all it takes is the news media to make a hero come alive. This film is definitely charming and I recommend it to all.
