Shaun Curry/AFP/Getty Images It's just a rock and roll concert and it's stunning. Martin Scorsese and his entire team should take a bow. This group of super-professionals took a live 2006 Rolling Stone concert and made it into a symphony of all symphonies. The Rolling Stones and Scorsese are amazing. They have a camera at every twist of Mick Jagger. The music and the movements as well as the camera shots have defined a new way to define perfection in what should be called the, Rock Opera 2008.
Scorsese has used a lot of the Stones material in his movies. Mean Street, Raging Bull, GoodFellas and Casino all had the Rolling Stones music tied tightly into memorable scenes. It was inevitable that this ten star documentary be made. If you've ever seen a Rolling Stone Concert, you certainly notice that they just don't stand there and sing. They are all over the stage with movements that make their music magic. Scorsese and his brilliant team of cinematographers embrace each movement by the band and create a masterpiece that each of you must see. Mick jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Charlie Watts, Buddt Guy, Christina Aguilera, Jack White and Bill Clinton complete the cast. You almost have to give names to each camera. It was the camera that made the documentary a huge success along with those Oscar-Winning Cinematographers. This movie runs about 122 minutes and is only seen at Imax Theatres. Besides the great music there is incredible footage of concerts past, as well as interviews that you'll find interesting. I didn't even open my box of Junior Mints. The movie was incredible. A must-see for anyone who appreciates outstanding art in all forms. Johnny |
